What Is With All The Cougar Bashing?

It seems all of the recent attention to Cougars and the men who love them has brought about the same amount of Cougar bashing. What is up with that!?

Why is it that we Cougars have gotten such a bad rep? Leopard leggings; way too much time in the tanning booth; long, claw-like nails; back fat?! I mean really…enough already!! This is such an old characterization don’t you think?

Women over 40 who prefer the company of younger men, often referred to as Cougars, have come a long way. We have brains, taste, class, success and confidence! Gone away are the images of desperate, over the hill bar hags with over processed dos. In their place, the sophisticated, the well spoken, the dauntless. We are anything but desperate, enjoying the attention of many a young suitor.

Being called a Cougar has become a compliment, not a stigma! So what is with all the haters?

I seriously don’t understand how an attractive, confident, and sexually uninhibited woman over 40 could pose such a threat to the 20-something crowd. Or is that it?!! Could the green eyed monster be causing all the stir? Hmmm… I think there may a tinge of competition in the air!

OK ladies let me set the record straight. There is no competition. We reign supreme, period! =P

Awww, I’m just joshin’ ya ladies. Don’t get your Aerie panties in a bunch! But, seriously, could you please let up on the Cougar bashing? Sheesh! Say goodbye to the Peggy Bundy image and bring on the Demi Moores of the world. We don’t all fit into your ugly depiction anymore.

As for you men out there with your signs about prowling and pouncing cats, who want nothing more than to chew you up and spit you out, all I have to say to that is….

YOU WISH! =)

Me personally, I am anything but a feverish, pouncing animal. I am fed well and content! When I am on the ‘prowl’…I remain poised and in control. So just spare me the horror stories and your ugly abuse of older women! Any self respecting woman, Cougar or not, wouldn’t look twice at you anyway! We have enough experience to weed out the bad ones within a few sentences.

The Cougar bashing has to stop! It’s quite ugly, really. Please find a new species!
